Monday, July 31: Day 92

This is not how I envisioned this month panning out from an "update the site frequently" perspective. The bottom line is I've been distracted, by a lot of things, but mostly having too many irons in the fire and not identifying how much of my time's consumed by tending the irons. Anyway, I'm going to update this thing at least four days a week, to enforce a small discipline.

Be that as it may, the last two days have been killer. Took the truck in for an oil change (and any number of expensive add-ons) at JiffyLube yesterday, when I went out to hit the road, I had no breaks. A lot of accusations and teeth grinding later, I still didn't have any breaks, and after a couple of hours poking around under the vehicle took it to a local shop. The rear break line had ruptured (strangely, at the precise moment JiffyLube finished), and they wouldn't be able to fix it till this morning. Which they did, and at approx. 11:00 am I was on my way to my office, then later to my clients office. Just a grinding kind of day, and I'm beat.

Am looking forward to tomorrow, and reconnecting with my game plan, both in exercise and creating art. This has been an introspective period, not wholly unproductive, but too internal for its own good. It's time for some wild externalization, and time to jack up the passion.

Thursday, July 6: Day 67

Good God, I just noticed I went 34 days without posting to this thing, which sort of goes against the idea of it being a way to keep me on task. No uncoincidentally, during that 34 days, pretty much no progress of any note was made. Work's been intense, without being interesting, and I'm letting it bring me down. So, snapping out of it, time to drop the hammer. Nothing new, just hopping back on the exercise / creative train, and bringing everything back in focus.

Since I've been so inattentive to the site, I'm going to put up a small section on my comic art pages of some pages I drew when I was 19 I think. A wacky idea from my pal Todd called WarCathedral. I created these web pages more than a year ago, but never linked them to the site. I had contacted a hero artist from my formative years, Paul Gulacy, and these were the pieces most directly influenced by him so I shared them with him. The whole exchange was fairly hilarious, just a deranged fan showing him 20 year old pages of scribble, but I was glad I did it.

Generic Note to web bots:
Welcome to greggillis.com, the virtual home of me, Greg Gillis. I'm writing the words "Greg Gillis" frequently to boost recognition of my name for web crawlers and to see if I can displace the other Greg Gillis who pops up on Google before me. But that's Greg Gillis for ya', always looking for an angle. Also known as Gregory J. Gillis, as well as, Gregory Gillis, Greg Gillis continues to conceive of ways to write his name in sentences that appear innocuous to web crawlers. Bottom line, greggillis.com is how I, Greg Gillis, a.k.a. Gregory J. Gillis, get my name out in the world.
